Faircasinos.com Newsletter no.1
====================

Addiction to gambling is an important issue not yet addressed on the site. I have chosen to send this out to all members of our forum and would appreciate your suggestions.

Proposals
======

* Maximum of 3 deposit transactions a day per player at a casino. Gamblers often lose track of their deposits otherwise.

* Low weekly limit on instant deposit methods, especially credit cards (mainly used by UK players). Higher limits can be requested by email.

* Genuine Casino Policy of detecting and closing compulsive gambling accounts. Although a sensitive issue for casinos, proven compulsive gamblers should have their money refunded.

* Easy self exclusion from a casino. This can be either permanent or for a period determined by the player.

I have the belief that many online casinos are irresponsible and set deposit limits so high that it negates their use. Whatever the ethical issues, in the long it will also hurt the casinos if they don't prevent players from quickly spending all their savings (sometimes spending on credit which is arguably worse). They may enjoy more profits in the short term if they don't take this issue seriously, but they will be blacklisted here if they don't!

PostPosted: Mon Jan 19, 2004 3:18 am    Post subject: Happy New Year and Prize Draw Details Reply with quote

Quote:
The total site revenue has exceeded $1000 so we can now have the first $500 prize draw. These are the revenues so far from the casinos recommended on the main page:

MAY -$205 (no revenue generated)
JUNE $26.24
JULY $18.60
AUGUST $25
SEPTEMBER $86.75
OCTOBER $63.71
NOVEMBER $90.73
DECEMBER $745.39

Total: $1,056.42

The income is still on a commission basis (25% of player losses) at the moment. In May the first 'real money' player signed up through the links whereas in December there were eight new real players (athough nearly ten times that many downloaded the software that month). The initial negative value in May was from a single player winning over $800 at one of the casinos.

I was giving away 50% of the revenue but from now on the percentage will be reduced. Although I haven't advertised the site much, it has cost over $300 so far (site hosting costs are negligible and not included). This is about a third of the revenue generated so I will reduce the amount given away to 20% from now on which seems a bit more realistic.

You might have noticed a post on the board where I mention that the first prize draw is for $500. The forum isn't really that active so I will be giving smaller prizes of $25 for the best post each day. If yours is the only post, then you will win! This is as long as the post actually makes some sense.

After 20 days with posts on the message board, the full $500 will have been given away.

Please note that the rules for the prize draw changed slightly after this newsletter was sent in early January. The details can be found here: http://www.faircasinos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28#211

AOL users may have difficulties staying logged in to the forum if the AOL web browser is used. Use an external browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer to fix this problem.

I noticed someone who registered today using AOL was having difficulties staying logged in and it's a known problem when using the AOL browser. It doesn't matter too much usually if you just want to read posts but currently you need to log in to do so. I may change this shortly so you can read posts without logging in.

There have been a number of posts in the last few days so please join in the discussions if you haven't done so already.

Faircasinos.com Newsletter no.4
=====================

As you are probably aware, there is a prize draw for posting in the forum. Each message gives you an entry to the prize draw for that day and gives you a chance to win $25. The next prize draw will be postponed for a few days but will be for $75 and include every post from the 27th January GMT onwards.

I have also got a referrals system in place now. There will soon be a prize draw for referrers and each referral you make will give you an entry to it.
I've decided that the first prize will be for $500 and will probably take place on the first anniversary of the website (February 20th). The winner will be selected totally randomly and the draw will be unriggable as usual (calculated on future sports events)! The person with the most referrals will be the most likely winner.

This link will give you more information on how the referrals system works: http://www.faircasinos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=169

Hi,

The last email I sent was well over 6 months ago. I wanted to do an HTML newsletter but not sure when this will be. I don't copy any here anymore (since early 2004) as I don't think there is much point.
